Vol. 338 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Temporary District Justice.

228.

asked the Minister for Justice if he has made arrangements to appoint two district court judges to administer the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Act, 1982; if he has made provision for new District Court premises in conjunction with the appropriate Government authorities; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I expect that two temporary district justices will be appointed shortly to deal with the business arising in the Dublin Metropolitan District from the Housing (Private Rented Dwellings) Act, 1982.

Accomodation for two courts and an associated office to deal with applications under the Act has been provided on a temporary basis at 4/5 Harcourt Road, Dublin 2, until January next when new accommodation at Dolphin House, Essex Street, is expected to be ready.

I cannot yet say if it will be necessary to provide either additional court sittings or judicial time in areas outside the Dublin Metropolitan District. However, the position will be kept under review and if it becomes evident that extra court sittings are required to deal with the volume of business the necessary arrangements will be made.
