asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give details of the bogs owned by the Land Commission in the Connemara area of County Galway; and if he will arrange to have these bogs divided in the immediate future among local people.
Written Answers. - Connemara Bog Division.
Bogs held by the Land Commission in the Connemara area and containing significant areas of uncut turf are listed as follows:

Lurgan or Shindilla |

Arderroo |

The Land Commission have no plans for the division of these bogs in the near future.
The cost of developing the Lurgan and Arderroo bogs for division would now be prohibitive. However, it is proposed to lease some 50 hectares of Lurgan bog to the owners of an adjoining bog for commercial development involving the sale of machine-cut spread turf for harvesting by individual purchasers. Considerable development work has already been carried out on Loughaunbeg bog and the question of its future use is at present being examined.
