Vol. 339 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Extension Grants.

16.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will clarify the position in regard to the payment of an approved housing extension grant in cases where the invalid or special category person dies before the completion of the work in question.

Responsibility for the administration of the disabled persons grants scheme has been developed to the housing authorities. However, I understand in relation to these grants that it is standard practice to authorise payments in cases where an approved scheme of works had been commenced but not completed before the death of the particular disabled person.

Mr. Coughlan

Can the Minister clarify that he stated that if work had been commenced prior to the death the grant would be paid?

I will read it again: it is the standard practice to authorise payments in cases where an approved scheme of works had been commenced but not completed before the death of the particular disabled person.

Mr. Coughlan

Will the Minister make that information available to Donegal County Council?
