Vol. 339 No. 8

Written Answers. - House Grants.

233.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This grant has been paid.

234.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in County Galway was refused a £1,000 new house grant because it was claimed that his floor area was over the maximum area for grant purposes and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This application was rejected because the floor area of the house exceeds the maximum area allowable for grant purposes (1,346 sq. ft.). The floor area of the house in question, including the development work which has been carried out in the attic space, exceeds this limit by over 500 sq. ft.

235.

asked the Minister for the Environment in relation to eligibility for a new house grant if inclusion of windows located on the gable walls in the attic of a dwelling-house involve the inclusion of the attic space as part of the floor area of the dwelling-house.

My Department do not regard the mere provision of one window in each gable to give limited light and ventilation to attic space of grant-aided new houses as development work which would warrant the inclusion of the attic space as part of the floor area of the house.

236.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The file in this case is at present with the Department's inspector for investigation and report. The position will be communicated to the Deputy on receipt of the inspector's report.

237.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a home improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named.

238.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a house improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

This grant was paid in 1980.

239.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a new house inspected for a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

An inspection of the house is being arranged.

240.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have a house improvement grant paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the current scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant has been so informed.
