Vol. 339 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

232.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same Christian name but a different surname from the same address. A grant in respect of major necessary works to the basic fabric of the house cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. Neither could grants for the building of a chimney and the provision of water and sewerage facilities be allowed as my Department's inspector reported that these facilities were already in existence in the house. The applicant has been so informed.

On receipt of notification of completion of work, an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of the grant, if in order.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a £1,000 new house grant and a £3,000 mortgage subsidy, approved in November 1982, to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

There has been no undue delay in this case. The file is with the inspector for early investigation and report with a view to payment of a grant. Payment of the mortgage subsidy will not commence until the grant has been paid, at least six months have elapsed from the date of execution of the mortgage deed, and the person named submits the claim form duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

236.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for immediate payment of a new house grant and mortgage subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

My Department have not been notified by the applicant of the completion and occupation of the house. However, in view of the information supplied by the Deputy, an inspection will now be arranged with a view to payment of the grant. The mortgage subsidy will be paid in due course.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the early payment of a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

The grant was paid on 21 January 1983.

238.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a new house grant has been approved for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The file in this case has been referred to my Department's inspector for investigation with a view to approval of a grant, if in order.
