asked the Minister for the Environment the number of pensionable (a) servants and (b) officers employed in county councils in the North-Eastern Health Board area at a recent date.

Up-to-date returns from the local authorities are not yet available. Accordingly, the following provisional information has exceptionally been obtained from the county councils concerned and indicates the position on 22 February 1983:—

asked the Minister for the Environment the existing weekly wages of the principal manual grades of county council workers under the final phase of the public service pay agreement 1982 and the operative date in respect of county councils in (a) the North-Eastern Health Board and (b) the Eastern Health Board area.

Details of the weekly rates of pay of the national seven-grade structure for general workers in all county councils other than Dublin County Council are set out in the table below. In Dublin County Council a system of differentials over the basic labourer's rate applies. Details of these, in common with other rates which are not national or general rates, are not normally kept by my Department.

In accordance with the Public Service Pay Agreement and the amendments thereto the rates of pay are effective from 1/1/'83. In accordance, also, with the amendments to the agreement, recognition of the amount foregone by the deferment of the final phase is being given in two equal payments on 1/2/'83 and 1/6/'83.
