Vol. 340 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Corrib Congestion.

28.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider making moneys available to the local authority to enable the congestion at the opening of the River Corrib which has been caused by unprecedented weed growth to be cleared.

There are no funds at my disposal which could be allocated to a local authority for the purpose mentioned by the Deputy. I understand that the Lough Corrib Navigation Trustees, who have responsibility in the matter, propose this year to purchase the necessary equipment for dealing with the problem.
