Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - Income Tax Rebate.

486.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will arrange to have a rebate of income tax paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as he has been unemployed for some time.

The taxpayer apparently ceased employment in July 1981 but I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that he omitted to submit a claim for repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment. The inspector was not advised of the position until June 1982 when he reviewed the taxpayer's 1981-82 liability. A cheque in full settlement of the repayment due, £239.80, was issued to the taxpayer on 2 July 1982.
