Vol. 340 No. 10

Written Answers. - Free Medicines List.

502.

asked the Minister for Health whether external ear drops containing urea hydrogen peroxide are included in the list of free medicines as they act as an aid for the removal of hardened ear wax and were covered in the old general services card list.

Ear drops used for this purpose do not legally require a doctor's prescription and, as a category, were excluded from free availability under the General Medical Service from 1 October 1982. I am currently examining the range of drugs available under the GMS and I shall decide in the near future what changes, if any, should be made in that range.
