Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - Farm Inspection Charge .

1067.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if grants under the farm modernisation scheme which were already sanctioned prior to 1 March 1983 will be exempt from the £20 inspection charge.

1070.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if there will be a £20 charge for inspections under the farm modernisation scheme prior to 1 March, 1983 in cases where the development was still in progress after 1 March, 1983.

: I propose to take Question Nos. 1067 and 1070 together.

The charge of £20 per visit applies to all farm visits made on or after 1 March 1983 in connection with the Farm Modernisation Scheme irrespective of the date of approval of works under the scheme. The charge does not apply to visits made prior to 1 March 1983.

1068.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if all farmers will be charged £20 per inspection under the farm modernisation scheme regardless of the size of the farm and regardless of the size of the investment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: The charge of £20 per visit applies to all farm visits made on or after 1 March 1983 in connection with the Farm Modernisation Scheme irrespective of the size of farm or the amount of investment. The charge is intended as a contribution by a farmer, benefitting from grant aid, towards the cost of each farm visit in connection with the scheme. In the circumstances it would not be appropriate to relate the amount of the contribution to the size of farm or the amount of the investment.

1069.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if there will be any maximum limit on the £20 inspection fee for visits under the farm modernisation scheme.

: The charge of £20 per visit applies to all farm visits made on or after 1 March 1983 in connection with the Farm Modernisation Scheme. There is no limit on the number of visits for which the charge will be made.
