Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - Wexford Technical School Principal .

1139.

asked the Minister for Education when she intends to sanction the appointment of a school principal for Wexford technical school, in line with similar appointments in Bray and Drogheda.

1140.

asked the Minister for Education if a principal will be appointed to Wexford technical school in the near future.

: I propose to take Questions Nos. 1139 and 1140 together.

The conditions of service of the Chief Executive Officer of Town of Wexford Vocational Education Committee provide that it is part of his duty to act as principal of the vocational education scheme and to teach such classes as may be assigned to or devolve on him from time to time.

There is only one school in the scheme and I am not satisfied that the existing responsibilities attaching to the post of chief executive officer are such as to warrant his release from the discharge of the duties of principal of the school.
