Vol. 341 No. 6

Written Answers . - County Longford Finance Allocation .

625.

asked the Minister for the Environment the allocation this year for (a) housing and (b) new works for Longford County Council and Longford Urban District Council.

: The initial capital allocations for 1983 to finance on-going commitments in their housing construction programmes are, in the case of Longford County Council, £1,150,000 and, in the case of Longford Urban District Council, £160,000. Housing authorities generally will shortly be invited to submit claims to my Department in respect of their capital requirements for new schemes.

It is understood that the new works referred to in the question are improvement works to houses at St. Michael's Road, Longford, and the Granard Regional Water Supply Scheme.

With regard to improvement works at St. Michael's Road, no application for a capital allocation to finance these works has been received from Longford Urban District Council. In regard to the Granard Regional Water Scheme (Stage 4), the county council's loan application of £1,360,000 for this project is being processed. When the loan is sanctioned, Longford County Council will be advised of the amount of the allocation.
