Vol. 342 No. 3

Written Answers. - Company Directors' Income Tax.

624.

asked the Minister for Finance how many company directors paid income tax in 1980-81 or in the latest tax year for which figures are available; the total so paid; and if he will express that figure as a percentage of the total PAYE tax paid in that year.

It is tentatively estimated that about 47,000 company directors paid an amount of the order of £80 million in income tax in 1980-81. This represents approximately 9 per cent of the estimated total income tax paid under PAYE in that year.
