Vol. 342 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

622.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement scheme grant will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

A house improvement grant cannot be paid in this case because, contrary to the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), it has not been satisfactorily established that, on or before 21 January 1980: (a) the work had commenced, or (b) the applicant had entered into a binding agreement to have the work carried out, or (c) materials for the work had been purchased.

623.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

This grant will be paid as soon as possible.

624.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house reconstruction grant will not be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible with a view to the payment of the grant.

625.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant and a £3,000 mortgage interest subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The file in this case is with the inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant. The mortgage subsidy payments may not commence until the grant is paid and the other conditions of the scheme are complied with.

626.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in paying a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended) it was necessary for the work to have been completed in accordance with the Department's requirements, by 30 June 1981. As the necessary requirement was not complied with in this case, the grant cannot be paid.

627.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application from a person of the address given. However, an application in respect of a person of the same name with a slightly different address in the Cardal-Castleisland area has been referred for inspection with a view to payment of the grant.

628.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin.

The file in this case is with my Department's inspector for a report on the applicant's eligibility for payment of the grant. On receipt of this report, the matter will be finalised as quickly as possible.

629.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for a final inspection for a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny with a view to payment of the grant.

An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

630.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the application has been made for a long time.

Any delay in this case has been due to the failure of the applicant to submit the information requested by my Department on 14 June 1982 and a certified form S.L.4 (tax certificate) in respect of his intended spouse. An inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of a grant, when these are received.

631.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the work has been inspected and passed since February last; and when payment will be made.

There has been no undue delay in this case. The grant was paid on 9 May 1983.

632.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £1,000 new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the application has been made for some time.

When the person named notifies my Department that the work specified by my Department's inspector on 5 November 1982, has been completed, an inspection will be arranged with a view to payment of a grant.

633.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant under the current scheme from the person named. There is, however, an application for a grant in respect of the provision of sewerage facilities which was submitted in March 1976. The grant in question cannot be paid because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the relevant scheme, work was not completed prior to 31 December 1978.

634.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house remains eligible for a new house grant if provision is made for further development such as an attic in addition to the permitted 1,346 sq. ft.

If the attic space of a house is developed, it is regarded as part of the floor area of that house for the purpose of determining whether it is of grant size or not. The provision of a limited amount of window space to give light to an attic space is not regarded as development in this context.

635.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant and mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford as the house has already been inspected.

The new house grant will be paid as soon as possible in this case. When this has been paid, arrangements will be made to pay the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy.
