Vol. 342 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ballina (Mayo) Dwellings Construction.

636.

asked the Minister for the Environment when sanction will be given for the construction of two old persons dwellings at Ballina, County Mayo, in accordance with documents and plans lodged by the National Building Agency on behalf of Ballina Urban District Council.

Under the existing procedures, local authorities may build schemes of up to 60 houses, without my prior sanction, subject to compliance with general standards, clearance of plans and costings, and keeping within the available capital allocation.

I have now cleared layout and house plans for two old persons dwellings at Convent Hill, Ballina, which were submitted to my Department by the National Building Agency and I am awaiting the submission of details of tender for approval to unit costs.
