asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay by the Office of Public Works to compensate fairly persons (details supplied) in County Limerick for damage caused to their property as a result of the Maigue drainage scheme; and if he will give an assurance that the Office will restore the damaged property.

The claim referred to is being dealt with by the Commissioners of Public Works in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. Restoration works will be considered when maintenance is being carried out in the area in question during the summer months.
