Vol. 342 No. 7

Written Answers. - Monaghan Vacant Houses.

829.

Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for Justice if he will offer for sale to Monaghan County Council the two vacant houses which were built by his Department for Garda personnel and which have remained unused for the last number of years.

Limerick East): I take it that the houses referred to are the two official Garda houses at Crossduff, Shantonagh, County Monaghan. The question of disposing of these houses is linked with efforts being made by the Office of Public Works to acquire a suitable site for the erection of a new Garda station to serve the Shantonagh and surrounding area. Until the site of the new station is known it cannot be stated definitely whether these houses are surplus to Garda needs. If it transpires that they are surplus, the Office of Public Works will be notified accordingly and the disposal of the houses will then be a matter for that Office.
