Vol. 342 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

622.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a housing reconstruction grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and when it will be paid.

A grant of £600 was paid to the person named on 20 July 1982 and the payable order was cashed on 27 July 1982.

623.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will pay a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford whose house has been fully completed and occupied.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that all the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

624.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether home improvement grants will be made available in certain emergency cases without prior inspection; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Prior inspection has been an essential and integral part of the scheme since it was introduced in October 1981 and expanded in April 1982. While it is not possible to depart from the prior inspection requirement in individual cases, I am examining the possibility of making special inspection arrangements in emergency cases.
