Vol. 342 No. 7

Written Answers. - Roscommon County Council Housing Funds.

630.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of the necessary funds to Roscommon County Council to enable the immediate payment of outstanding loans to approved applicants in County Roscommon for (1) house erections, (2) house purchases and (3) reconstructions; and if he is aware that cheques have been made out for approved persons and that there are no funds to meet commitments.

A total of £850,000 has, so far this year, been advanced from the Local Loans Fund to Roscommon County Council for the payment of housing loans and supplementary grants. The amount represents the approved monthly allocation for each of the months January to May; the May instalment was issued on 13 May. In addition the council had £117,000 available from its own internal resources for the payment of loans. The total capital allocation to the council for 1983 is £2.25 million of which £2.04 million is from the Local Loans Fund to be drawn at a monthly rate of £170,000.

The allocation to the council will, in conjunction with the allocations to other housing authorities, be kept under review as the year progresses.
