Written Answers. - Dáil Resolution on Central America.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government has any plans to communicate officially the text of the resolution on Central America which was passed by Dáil Éireann on 27 April 1983 to the Governments of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica.

A copy of the motion passed by Dáil Éireann has been conveyed through diplomatic channels to the Governments of Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the action the Government have taken, or plan to take, arising from the resolution on Central America passed by Dáil Éireann on 27 April 1983; and if he will say specifically if copies of the motion were officially passed by his Department to the United States Government and to the members of the Contadora group of countries.

A copy of the motion passed by Dáil Éireann has been conveyed through diplomatic channels to the United States Government and to the Governments of the members of the Contadora Group.

In accordance with established Government policy and in the light of the motion passed by the Dáil, the Government are keeping the situation in Central America under constant review. In particular we are closely monitoring the human rights situation there with a view to the further consideration of these matters at such bodies as the UN Commission on Human Rights, the UN Economic and Social Council, and the UN General Assembly.
