Vol. 342 No. 10

Written Answers. - Kerry Company Employment.

632.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the steps his Department are taking to get the 175 employees of a company (details supplied) in County Kerry back to a full working week again; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Decisions as to the introduction of short-time working by any particular firm are for the management of that firm and I have no function in that respect. I understand, however, that the short-term working has been forced in the company by depressed market demand due to the recession.

While I would hope that the workers affected will be able to return to full-time working before long, there is no special action I can take to that end.
