Vol. 342 No. 10

Written Answers. - PRSI Deductions.

724.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will make a statement in regard to the PRSI deductions of workers at a company (details supplied) in County Laois, at the time of its closure; and if all the requisite contributions were paid to his Department.

The firm in question went into voluntary liquidation on 12 November 1980. The liquidation has not yet been completed.

All PRSI contributions due to 5 July 1980 have been paid. Recovery of the contributions due for the period 6 July 1980 to the date of the liquidation is being pursued by the Collector-General of Revenue and the amount of these contributions will rank as preferential, under the Companies Act 1963, in the distribution of the assets.

A sum of £347.20 representing contributions due for the one former employee in respect of the period 12 June 1978 to 5 April 1979 is also outstanding and a claim has been made accordingly on the liquidator. No preference will attach to this sum.
