asked the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism which of the following items are subject to price control by the National Prices Commission and if he will state in respect of each item that is controlled at the maximum price permitted as of mid-March 1983: Golden Delicious French apples (1 lb.); Jacobs Crackers (200 gr.); McDougalls Flour (1.5 kilo); Pampers (30 mini); J. & J. Baby Lotion (120 ml.); Mazola Corn Oil (1 litre); Fairy Liquid (1 litre); Lenor Fabric Conditioner (1 litre); Findus French Bread Pizza (170 gr.); Maxwell House Coffee (200 gr., mild); Saxa salt (753 gr.); Bovril (16 oz. jar); Coca Cola (2 litre container); Perrier Water (1 litre); English Cheddar Cheese (1 lb.) and Chivers Olde English Marmalade (1 lb.).

asked the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism which of the following items are subject to price control by the National Prices Commission; if he will state in respect of each item that is controlled the maximum price permitted as and of mid-March 1983: lamb cutlets (1 lb.) centre cut; chicken (1 lb.); Tampax (Reg. 40); household rubber gloves; Persil automatic (930 gr.); Daz (900 gr.); Dettol (550 ml.); roast ham (quarter-pound); streaky rashers (1 lb.); McVitie's Chocolate Wholemeal (300 gr.) and Brie Cheese (1 lb.).

I propose to take Questions Nos. 576 and 577 together. Of the items listed in the two questions by the Deputy, the following are subject to price control at the retail level by virtue of maximum prices orders:

(i) McDougall's Flour (1.5 kgs.) — under the Maximum Prices (Flour) (No. 2) Order, 1982 the maximum retail price of McDougall's Flour as and of mid-March, 1983 was controlled at 64½p per 1.5 kgs.

(ii) Chickens (1 lb.) — under the Maximum Prices (Chickens) (No. 2) Order, 1981, the maximum retail price of chickens as and of mid-March, 1983 was (a) 92½p per pound if sold with giblets, or (b) 95p per pound if sold without giblets.

The following eleven items are subject to price control at the wholesale level but are not subject to maximum prices orders.
