Vol. 343 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

550.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant and a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been completed and occupied and that the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

Payment of the subsidy cannot commence until the grant has been paid and the applicant submits a claim form completed and appropriately certified by his lending agency.

551.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying housing reconstruction grants to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant was so informed on 15 December 1982.
