Vol. 343 No. 2

Written Answers. - Motor Cycle Pillion Passengers.

572.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will consider making it unlawful for people to ride pillion on motor cycles, in view of the many crimes carried out in this way and the dangers involved.

Crimes involving motor cycles with pillion passengers are a matter of particular concern to the Garda authorities, but it is not considered that the answer lies in making it unlawful for pillion passengers to be carried. The matter is, however, being kept under review by the Ministers concerned.
