Vol. 343 No. 4

Written Answers. - Foynes Harbour Development.

625.

(Limerick West): asked the Minister for Transport if he will approve the plans for the development and extension of Foynes Harbour, County Limerick; if the necessary funds will be made available; if he has been requested to receive a deputation from the trustees; if he has received this deputation; and if not, the reason why.

Plans for an extension to the east jetty at Foynes Harbour have been approved by my Department. Proposals for financing the extension have been received from the Foynes Harbour trustees. The trustees sought a meeting with me to discuss their proposals. With their agreement a meeting with officials of my Department was held. Arising from this meeting a number of options for financing the work are being considered by my Department in consultation with the Department of Finance.

A meeting with me at the moment is not considered necessary.
