A new house grant under the old scheme of grants cannot now be paid to the person named, as the applicant did not notify my Department by 31 January 1980 that the house was completed before 31 December 1978.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. There is, however, an application under the current scheme from a person of the same surname and address but with a different Christian name which had to be refused because the works had commenced before the Department's inspector visited the house. Payment of the balance of a grant approved under an earlier scheme had also to be refused in this case as, contrary to the provisions of the Housing Regulations 1980 (as amended), notification of the completion of work and a claim for payment were not received in the Department by 30 June 1981.
