Statement:
1. The rates for civil servants are paid in respect of cars of 12hp and over. A rate of 18.84 pence is payable for all mileage travelled in excess of 12,000 miles in any mileage year. These rates are adjusted annually.
2. This rate is paid in respect of all mileage travelled irrespective of hp of car. This rate was last adjusted with effect from 1 September 1981.
3. The primary rates of 18.9 pence and 20.2 pence are paid for the first 15,000 miles travelled in any year commencing 1 January.
The secondary rates of 14.9 pence and 16 pence are paid for miles travelled between 15,000 and 20,000 in any year commencing 1 January.
The tertiary rate of 11.3 pence is paid for miles travelled over 20,000 in any year commencing 1 January irrespective of hp of car. These rates were last adjusted with effect from 1 January 1980.
