Vol. 343 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Pig Co-Operative.

599.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will sanction a loan from the IDA for a milling complex for a pig co-operative (details supplied) in County Tipperary in view of the fact that it is a manufacturing industry.

I presume the Deputy is referring to an IDA grant. I would point out that it is not a function of the Minister for Industry and Energy to sanction such grants.

I understand that in August 1980 the IDA had discussions with Aherlow Pig Co-Op regarding the Co-Op's development plans for a milling complex. The co-op were advised to submit a formal application which would have been considered for both IDA and FEOGA assistance but such an application was not received by the IDA.
