The latest year for which information is available is 1982.

Notes:

(a) Figures are provisional pending the availability of the final results of the 1981 Census of Population and the results of the 1983 Labour Force Survey.

(b) Excludes persons who are not yet at work having left full-time education. A sample analysis of the Census of Population returns indicates an estimate of 20,000 such persons in April 1981.

It is not possible to identify the "tourist industry" as a separate sector in compiling these estimates. In January 1983, the latest date for which the information is available, there were some 66,000 persons at work in semi-State bodies.
