The Deputy has not specified what essential services he has in mind or what particular State bodies are involved. Accordingly, it is difficult to give a precise answer to his question.
If the Deputy has in mind services which are provided by State commercial bodies primarily on social or other grounds but which are in commercial terms lossmaking, my objective would be to have the nature and cost of such services clearly identified and to have a decision taken on each case in the light of all the relevant circumstances.
