Vol. 344 No. 1

Written Answers. - Timber Prices.

622.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will state in respect of standing (or extracted timber) in 1982, with separate figures for all forest centres in each county (a) the amount of standing timber sold; (b) the purchase price; (c) the amount of thinnings sold; and (d) the purchase price, in total and per ton.

Extraction of the detailed information requested in respect of some 250 forest centres throughout the country would involve the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of staff time which in present circumstances would not be warranted.

The overall position in regard to timber sales by my Department is included in the Annual Reports of the Forest and Wildlife Service, copies of which are available in the Library.

The latest published report relates to the year 1981 and I would refer the Deputy to paragraphs 6.4 and 19.2 thereof. It is expected that the report for 1982 will be published later this year.
