Vol. 344 No. 3

Written Answers. - Crosshaven (Cork) Garda Strength.

910.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the urgent need for additional gardaí at Crosshaven, County Cork, during the summer holiday months; and the steps he is taking to augment the strength there so that the serving members can have normal holidays.

Limerick East): The detailed deployment of members of the force is a matter for the Garda authorities, who have informed me that they consider that the existing strength of one sergeant and two gardaí at Crosshaven is sufficient to cater for any special needs which may arise there during the tourist season. In addition to the service provided by the local station the area received attention from the patrol car based at Carrigaline and from the Traffic Corps and the Task Force based at the divisional headquarters at Union Quay.

The question as to when the members of the station party may take their holidays is, of course, a matter of internal Garda administration and there are appropriate official channels for dealing with any problems which may arise in this regard.
