Vol. 344 No. 3

Written Answers. - Fermoy (Cork) Sewerage Scheme.

675.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-to-date position regarding the provision of a new sewerage scheme for Fermoy town, County Cork.

The present position with regard to the proposed sewerage scheme for Fermoy is that contract documents for stages 1 and 2 are under consideration in my Department. The approval of the contract documents for the scheme must be considered in the context of the number of schemes of high priority at present under construction or getting to construction stage for which adequate finance must be provided including the following schemes in Cork city and county recently approved by me: Riverstown/Glanmire Sewerage Scheme (Stage 2); Carrigtwo-hill Sewerage Scheme (Stage 1A); Ardigole Regional Water Supply Scheme; Blarney Road Service Reservoir; and Churchtown Sewerage Scheme. I regret that I am not at present in a position to say when approval to the contract documents for the Fermoy scheme may issue to the urban district council.
