Of the total of some £53,000, an amount of £19,000 approximately was incurred before 1 January 1983 in respect of works carried out and expenses arising in relation to the specialist studies in question. The works involved consisted of the execution of the ongoing programme of exploratory borehole drilling and the collection and analysis of data throughout the catchment in connection with the study on groundwater in the area and on the oyster beds at Clarinbridge.
