Vol. 344 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Turbary.

989.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange with the Land Commission to sink drains in the bog at Banaduff, Headford PO, County Kerry and open up new turf banks in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter, as this turbary was allocated this year by the Land Commission.

This bog was allocated last year in some 26 plots. The unusually soft nature of the bog inhibited the use of machinery and the Land Commission experienced great difficulty in draining it. They will consider undertaking further drainage work next year but the success of the whole operation will ultimately depend on the cooperation of the allottees in the proper working of the bog.
