Vol. 344 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Louth Firm.

720.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if his Department is aware of the pending closure of a firm (details supplied) in County Louth; if so, the discussions that have been held with officials of State and semi-State organisations to help rescue this company and the jobs of the workers involved; if his Department will make a positive effort to solve this problem and avoid closure in four weeks' time; and if he will make a statement on the matter in view of the rising unemployment in the Drogheda area.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that it is currently in discussion with a firm which is interested in taking over the assets of and maintaining employment in the company to which the Deputy refers. The Deputy can be assured that every effort will be made to keep the company in operation.
