Vol. 344 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Industry.

725.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the position regarding an industry for Rathmore, County Kerry; the steps being taken to provide an industrial site in the area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that they have no plans at present to acquire an industrial site at Rathmore, County Kerry.

The IDA have concentrated their industrial development efforts in this area on the nearby towns of Killarney, County Kerry and Millstreet, County Cork. The IDA have secured a number of major industrial projects for these towns such as Dollinger in Killarney and Apple and Molex in Millstreet. In addition the factory for the Killarney Electronics project has now been completed. These companies plan to employ over 400 people by the end of 1984. Job opportunities created in these firms will help to meet the employment needs of Rathmore.

The IDA are actively promoting their 13.5 acres of land and 56,000 sq. ft. of factory space at Killarney and their seven acres of land in Millstreet for industrial development.
