Vol. 344 No. 7

Written Answers. - IDA Funds Distribution.

726.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the steps he proposes to take to provide an equal distribution of IDA funds for industrial purposes between County Kerry and County Cork; if he will arrange to set up an IDA office in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Industrial Development Authority are committed to the development of industry in Ireland as a whole and resources are allocated to them on this basis and not on a county by county basis.

The distribution of IDA resources is largely related to the number of projects locating in each area and it is not realistic to draw comparisons between any two areas as conditions vary widely from one area to another.

While the IDA encourage industrialists, as far as possible, to locate in less advantaged areas, the final decision is, of course, a matter for each individual company.
