On 5 May 1983 the British Authorities announced the appointment of Mr. Alan C. Goodison to the post of British Ambassador in Dublin. The agreement of the Irish Government had, in accordance with normal international practice previously been sought and granted. Ambassador Goodison presented his Credentials to the President on 29 June 1983.
