asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of flights given permission to land at Shannon, Cork and Dublin airports carrying NATO military personnel between North America and the Federal Republic of Germany in civil and military aircraft in each of the last 12 months; the number of such personnel carried; and the states' armed forces to which they belonged.
In the period in question, one such flight was given permission to land. This was a US charter flight which used Shannon as a transit point in September 1983. It is not our practice to check on the precise number of military personnel on board in such a case.
