Vol. 345 No. 5

Written Answers. - Ashbourne All-Irish School.

285.

asked the Minister for Education if her Department agreed to provide prefabricated classrooms for the all-Irish school at Ashbourne, County Meath, for the beginning of this education year; the reason the classrooms were not provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

My Department agreed that prefabricated classrooms should be provided for the all-Irish school at Ashbourne for the current school-year and instructed the Commissioners of Public Works accordingly. I am advised that because of difficulties concerning planning permission the classrooms were not provided by the beginning of the school year 1 September 1983 but that since then the school authorities themselves have arranged to have temporary accommodation provided. The suitability of this accommodation for grant purposes is being investigated by the commissioners. My Department await the commissioners' report on the matter.
