Vol. 346 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

291.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

A mortgage subsidy was approved in this case on the basis of information supplied by the applicant to the effect that the mortgage was created on 14 December 1981 and two instalments of the subsidy were subsequently paid.

However, it has now been established that the mortgage deed was executed on 30 October 1980 and consequently this applicant does not qualify for the subsidy which is payable only in respect of mortgages created on or after 10 April 1981.

My Department will be in touch with this applicant in the matter.

292.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The grant was paid on 28 July 1983.

293.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The application for a new house grant was rejected in this case on 27 October 1983 because it was in respect of an extension to an existing dwelling rather than a new house. This was confirmed by the planning permission submitted in support of the application. An appeal against the decision is at present under consideration, and the Deputy will be informed of the outcome.

294.

Mr. Moynihan

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. The applicant has been so informed.
