asked the Minister for the Environment the revised weekly rate of pay (in county councils outside the Dublin area minimum and maximum of pay scales) for the principal manual categories up to and including road overseer (servants), from 1 October, 1983; the amount and operative date of the second phase of the public service pay agreement, 1983; and the estimated total cost in 1983 of implementing in the county councils (i) the first phase pay increase and (ii) the pay adjustment on 1 October.

The minima and maxima of the weekly pay scales which apply to the principal categories of general workers, employed in county councils other than Dublin County Council, with effect from 1 October 1983, are as follows:

The 1983 Public Service Pay Agreement provides for a second phase increase of 3.25 per cent of basic pay from 1 February 1984 for all general workers except a small number of "early starters".

The cost in 1983 of implementing the first phase of the Public Service Pay Agreement for general workers and related grades employed by county councils outside the Dublin area is estimated at just under £1 million. The cost in 1983 of implementing the special increase, effective from 1 October 1983, is also estimated at just under £1 million for these employees.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total cost in 1983 of implementing (a) the 1 September and (b) the 1 October pay increases for manual categories, drivers and supervisory grades (servants) in urban local authorities outside the Dublin Area.

The estimated cost in 1983 of implementing the first phase of the 1983 Public Service Pay Agreement (payable from 1 September 1983) for general workers and related grades employed in county borough corporations, borough corporations and urban district councils outside the Dublin area, is £0.25 million. The estimated cost in 1983 of implementing the special increase effective from 1 October 1983 for these employees is also £0.25 million.
