Statistics of lay-offs and short-time are not available in my Department. In regard to involuntary unemployment, statistics are available to my Department relating to proposed redundancies, based on notifications sent by employers of employees eligible for lump sums under the Redundancy Payments Acts. The figures for 1983, on a monthly basis for such redundancies notified by local authorities, are:
