asked the Minister for Labour the total amount of money collected from the 1 per cent youth employment levy to date; the total amount of this money which has been spent by or on behalf of the Youth Employment Agency; and if he will give a detailed breakdown of the expenditure of the levy by other agencies.

From the introduction of the youth employment levy in April 1982 up to 31 October 1983 the total sum paid to my Department in respect of levy collected amounted to £94,206,873. The total amount paid to the Youth Employment Agency from the subhead of my Department's Vote for training and employment of young persons, including the expenses of the agency, from its establishment in March 1982 up to 31 October 1983 was £6,440,363. (This subhead represents mainly the estimated receipts of the levy). The total such amounts issued from the subhead to other agencies during the same period were as follows:
