asked the Minister for Education if she will provide a per capita grant to second level schools for the education of children in the promotion of matters Irish; and if she will include in next year's curriculum a short course to assist groups such as the Young Ireland Movement in their efforts to promote the support of Irish products and to Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in their efforts to promote Irish music and culture.

I believe that our schools play an important role in encouraging their pupils to appreciate things Irish in drawing attention to the effects of supporting Irish products, and in promoting Irish music and culture.
My Department encourage and assist the schools in their efforts in these matters. I am satisfied that the existing financial and curricular provisions are adequate to allow the schools to cater for these activities, and I do not consider it necessary to make arrangements for a special per capita grant or specific courses for them.
