Written Answers. - County Kildare Schools.

134.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give the up-to-date position on the provision of an extension to Eadestown national school, County Kildare, with particular reference to site suitability.

My Department are advised by the Commissioners of Public Works that the site of the existing national school at Eadestown, County Kildare, together with a site extension offered by the school authorities, will, subject to planning permission being obtained, provide a suitable area on which to extend the present school building.

My Department have advised the chairman of the board of management accordingly. Meanwhile the commissioners have been asked to prepare a sketch scheme for the proposed extension.

asked the Minister for Education if she will give details of the proposed commencement date for work on the extension to Clougherinkoe national school, County Kildare.

It is understood from the Commissioners of Public Works that tenders for the construction of the extension to Clougherinkoe national school, County Kildare, are at present under examination in that office.

It is not possible at this stage to state when building work may commence.

asked the Minister for Education the date that work on the extension to Broadford primary school in County Kildare is expected to commence.

It is understood from the Commissioners of Public Works that the working drawings and bills of quantities for the extension to Broadford national school, County Kildare, have been completed. The question of the scheme proceeding to the invitation of tenders is now being considered.

It is not possible at this stage to state when the building of the extension may commence.

asked the Minister for Education when it will be possible to proceed with the extension to the primary school at Johnstownbridge, Enfield, County Kildare.

It is understood from the Commissioners of Public Works that they expect to be in a position very shortly to commence the preparation of working drawings for the extension to Johnstownbridge national school, County Kildare.

138.

asked the Minister for Education the likely date for the provision of a new primary school at Ardclough, Straffan, County Kildare.

My Department await a report from the Commissioners of Public Works on the feasibility of extending Ardclough national school, Straffan, County Kildare, to bring the teaching accomodation to three classrooms and a general purposes room.

It would not be possible to state at this stage when building work may commence.

139.

asked the Minister for Education the position in regard to the provision of the extension to the national school at Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare; and the likely starting date for the project.

Sketch-plans prepared by the Commisioners of Public Works for an extension of the national school at Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare, have been approved by my Department.

As soon as agreement is reached with the chairman of the school's board of management regarding the amount of local contribution to be provided a grant will be sanctioned for this project.

It would not be possible at this stage to state when building may commence.
