Vol. 347 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drainage of County Galway River.

370.

asked the Minister for Finance the position in relation to the drainage of Dunkellin River; the particular studies and surveys in which his Department will be involved in 1984, and the amount of money which will be provided by his Department.

A considerable amount of design work on the Dunkellin River Drainage Scheme has been completed but the design cannot be finalised until the findings of the specialist studies, commissioned to investigate the likely effects of the drainage proposals on groundwater in the area and on the oyster beds at Clarinbridge, are available. As indicated in my reply to the question put down by the Deputy on 6 December 1983, adequate funds have been allocated to enable the studies to continue in 1984.
