I understand the Industrial Development Authority are at present in discussions with the company regarding its future plans. The Deputy will appreciate that at this stage I am not in a position to divulge any details of these discussions.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that in the period 1977 to 1983 there was a net increase of 1,024 in the number employed in manufacturing industry in County Mayo. During that seven-year period 5,437 jobs were created and 4,413 jobs lost in the county.
